Joe Wilson's landscape series (2014-2016) includes this iconic work depicting an idealised place in a mannered and minimal style. The series offers a commentary on the Australian art market, value, and taste. This painting’s superficiality is it’s critique, as a successful art commodity utilising a generic motif at large scale, made from some fine art materials, and framed for viewing and handling. Wonderful decoration.

The work was exhibited as "Before the Distance" in 2014 at MILS Gallery, as part of a dual exhibition titled "Constructed Images" alongside Michael Bennett. Previously owned privately, this painting was swapped for three smaller works from the same series to accomodate a smaller home.
