We are raising funds to go to the USA; we are going for medical reasons. Chanelle is seeing an brilliant specialist in the ALK + Oncology field, Dr Jessica Lin, at Mass General, Boston, Massachusetts. Her appointment is supported by the incredible ‘Second Opinion Program’ set up by the USA ALK+ patient group. We will be covering the costs of travel and accomodation. Dr Lin is one of the top specialists in this particular rare genetic cancer, and her team are at the forefront of the next line of treatment, developing vaccines that target drug resistant cancer cells. Long term this could mean patients like Chanelle could stay on their targeted treatments even longer and have better quality of life. By attending this appointment, Chanelle also makes important connections between her oncologist here and the team there, which has flow on effects in the patient and medical community in Australia.
